Relationship Between Shots Hunt for the Wilderpeople  (2016, dir. Taika Waititi) In spending about, oh, I don't know, two hours or so excitedly jumping from one movie clip to another of literally EVERY movie I've rated above an 8 on my IMDB account (which is admittedly a lot), I stumbled across Hunt for the Wilderpeople, a Taika Waititi movie from 2016. A movie that was totally underappreciated, but nonetheless absolutely heartwarming (it also happened to be the only movie I could find with a clip under one minute). I'll spare you a confusing plot summary, but I totally recommend giving it a watch (fmovies - I'll say no more). The scene opens to an establishing shot inside a hunting lodge/ranger's post in the New Zealand outback. Artist Statement

As a rather clueless 20-something, most of what little memory I have is selective -- if anything, minuscule details, like the twitches per minute of my Mother's eye (as I drove our car into a ditch my very first time driving), or the hysteric-sad laughter that bubbled up at my Grandfather's funeral, seem to be the only things that really stick. Luckily for me, much of my childhood, as well as my two older brothers', was meticulously captured on tape by my Father. From birthday parties, to weddings, to sticky-fingered pumpkin-gut carving and lazy Sundays, my Dad somehow managed to capture it all. In fact, much of the space in our living room was devoted to countless VHS tapes, lovingly titled "Kenny's stuff, Stephen's 12th Birthday" or "Heather's Dance," in his nearly illegible scrawl. It turns out I'm not THAT great of an interviewer... so my footage sort of has multiple arcs going on at the same time...? I feel like I could either focus on Ashleigh as a wife and Mother trying to find her own independence, or how she was close with her Mom and how her pregnancy changed their relationship/her Mom's relationship to Ashleigh's daughter, or just focus on her "what's next after being a Mom" is finding her own independence...? I highlighted a couple of points that seemed like good markers for a beginning, middle or end.
